The only way to get an Ugly Duckling is to adopt one from your Farmville Neighbors. Ugly Ducklings are not readily available in Farmville. You can’t purchase them at the market.

Why would you want one? Because your Ugly Duckling will transform into a beautiful swan in just a few days. Your Swan will produce feathers in 2 days. The feathers sell for 80 coins

First you will need neighbors.To get neighbors in Farmville invite all of your Facebook friends to become Farmville neighbors,or you could just go here

You’ll see a thread there called “ADD-me Farmers!*1 post per thread*”. If you
click on that thread, you will see a ton of posts from people who are wanting
neighbors.
Next, Browse through your news feeds to see if one of your Farmville neighbors’ or Facebook friends has an Ugly Duckling available for adoption. Look for a picture of the Ugly Duckling. If the picture is posted in the news feed this means that one of your neighbors has found an Ugly Duckling on their farm and has placed it up for adoption.

Find the post that states “Adopt the Ugly Duckling.” Click on the link under the post and you will then be redirected to Farmville. If you are one of the first to click on the “Adopt” icon you get the duck.

The next time you sign in to Farmville your Ugly Duckling will be waiting in your gift box.
Leaving the duck in your gift box will allow other Farmville neighbors an opportunity to adopt an ugly duckling of their own. Leave it a few hours, or an entire day, so more people
will have a chance to adopt.
